The Narendra Narayan Park is a historic botanical garden located in the heart of Cooch Behar town in West Bengal. Founded in 1892 by Maharaja Nripendra Narayan and named in honour of his father — the erstwhile ruler of the princely state of Cooch Behar — the park is a beautiful green space that blends natural beauty with royal heritage.
About Narendra Narayan Park and Its Founder
The park was named after Narendra Narayan (1841–1863), the Maharaja of the princely state of Cooch Behar from 1847 to 1863. He was the first ruler of Cooch Behar to receive an English education and is historically significant for banning the practice of Sati in his state. He also founded Jenkins School in Cooch Behar in 1861 — one of the oldest boys' schools in West Bengal. He passed away on 6 August 1863 and was succeeded by his second son, Nripendra Narayan, who went on to found this park in his memory.

Key Features of the Park
The Narendra Narayan Park covers an area of 5.7 hectares, which includes 1 hectare of water body. Its chief objectives are recreation and botanical studies. The park campus also houses the Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya and is maintained by the Forest Department of West Bengal.
