Banjhakri Falls is one of Gangtok's most unique and captivating tourist destinations, located 6 to 8.5 km from M.G. Marg (Mahatma Gandhi Marg) on the road to Ranka. Spread across 2 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds, the falls cascade down a rocky height of 40 to 70 feet with tremendous force, creating a mesmerising spectacle that draws visitors year after year.
About Banjhakri Falls and Energy Park
The park surrounding Banjhakri Falls is built on the theme of Shaman culture, also known locally as an "Energy Park" or "Shamanistic Theme Park." The name itself is telling: "Ban" means forest or jungle, and "Jhakri" means healer or magician — together, Banjhakri refers to a forest shaman or jungle priest.
The figurines and sculptures displayed throughout the park illustrate the rituals, healing methods, ceremonies, and lifestyle of the shaman — creating an immersive glimpse into the occult traditions and folk culture of the Himalayan region.
