Karbandi Monastery, known locally as Kharbandi Gompa, is a stunning Buddhist monastery located in Phuentsholing, Bhutan. Established in 1967 by the Royal Grandmother, Ashi Phuntsho Choedron, the monastery is perched at an altitude of 2,145 m on the outskirts of Phuentsholing town in the foothills of the Himalayan range. It is believed that the site was selected by a Rimpoche (Holy Man) from Lingzhi in northern Bhutan.

The monastery premises feature a beautifully maintained garden with a wide variety of plants, flowers, and trees brought from different parts of the world.
Key Attractions at Karbandi Monastery
The monastery complex includes a large Buddha statue, the Zangtho Pelri shrine, and several other temples and sacred structures. The large Shakyamuni statue at the center of the main building's dais is a particularly important attraction. The monastery is adorned with eight Chortens — symbolic structures representing specific events in the Buddha's life. A tower of prayer wheels within the complex is also a fascinating feature that draws visitors and devotees alike.
